Old Imari Sake Brewery continues to brew delicious sake in the pottery village of Imari City, Saga Prefecture.
Saga's pottery is characterized by the gorgeous color patterns of porcelain such as Arita ware and Imari ware, but the taste, aroma, and mood of sake also change depending on the container.
Not only is the representative brand ``Saki'' delicious, but the NOMANNE series of Imari-yaki cup sake is also very distinctive, as it embodies the character of President Maeda, who is a female president.

Please give us an overview of the brewery.
Imari City in Saga Prefecture has prospered as a shipping port for pottery (Arita ware) since the Edo period, and the exported pottery was particularly prized in Europe, where it was called ``Imari/Ko-Imari.''
Our ancestors ran a kimono shop in this port of Imari, but at the end of the Meiji period, we started a sake brewery in what is now Nisato-cho, Imari City.
Please tell us about the characteristics of the area.
During the Edo period, the Nabeshima domain encouraged sake brewing using surplus rice.
The area is blessed with rice harvested in the Saga plains and high-quality water suitable for sake brewing, and these blessings have led to the current sake brewing in Saga.
Mr. Maeda, how did you get involved in sake brewing?
She was originally born as the eldest daughter of a sake brewer, and after joining the company, she took on an office job.
However, as the heirs of the same generation returned to sake breweries in the prefecture and talked with them, they realized that in order for sake breweries to survive in the future, it was necessary for them to become involved in the brewing themselves.
So, I first participated in the Takinogawa Brewery Training Course organized by the Brewing Association, and from that winter, I started participating in brewing my own brewery.

This sake won the Grand Prix of the 2013 National Sake Appraisal Association Ginjo Sake Division.
