This time's recommendation

Kikumori Sake Brewery Iwate Kitakami City Taxi Driver Onikenbu Sake Takuya Fujimura Hands-on BOX

Takuya Fujimura, the fifth generation brewer, took over the brewery at the age of 30 upon the passing of his father, and two years later, in 2005, he released a sake that shocked the sake industry.

"Taxi Driver"
Who would have thought that this was a brand of sake?
It is now a popular brand of Kikumori and is called ``Takudora''.

This year, they are also releasing a uniquely named drink called ``Victor Nage from Knee Cross Kata (hand-held sake in the photo).''
It seems like they're trying something new, and it's a challenge because they can compete in terms of alcohol quality as well.

Kikumori Sake Brewery is said to have been named after his grandfather, Mr. Kuki, who wanted to ``make the company even more exciting, even if it meant standing on his head.''
Because we have inherited that blood and will, we are able to produce unique and original sake while respecting tradition.

Catastrophic damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake
Brewing by renting another company's brewery
etc...

It looks like this will be a chance to study abroad at a sake brewery, where you can get to know the true feelings of brewers who continue to take on challenges despite repeated disappointments and setbacks.

We use Hitomebore rice grown locally in Iwate Prefecture.

Kikumori Yamahai Junmaishu Hyakusho Odori 180ml
``Hyakusho Odori'' is a local performing art performed in Hanamaki City and the surrounding area to pray for a rich harvest. It looks catchy, but on the inside it's the sake that brings out the flavor of the rice.
The rice we use is Rikuu 132, a variety that the children's story writer Kenji Miyazawa recommended to farmers suffering from cold damage when he was an agricultural instructor.

About Kikumori Sake Brewery

Kikumori Sake Brewery Iwate Kitakami City Taxi Driver Onikenbu Sake Takuya Fujimura Hands-on BOX

Kikumori Sake Brewery was founded in 1894 (Meiji 27) and remains the only sake brewery in Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture.

Our grandfather, the third-generation brewer, proposed that we create ``sake that is preferred by fathers at yakitori restaurants, rather than sake that is appreciated by the teachers of the Kanpei Association.'' We produce Junmai sake that looks good when hot, using only rice from Iwate Prefecture.

Since taking over the brewery in 2003, all new products have been limited to Junmai sake, and in 2014 we became Iwate Prefecture's first all-Junmai sake brewery. This is the only attempt in Iwate Prefecture to ship all products as unfiltered unfiltered sake without using water or carbon filtration.

In 2011, the brewery was damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the roof collapsed and the earthen walls collapsed, causing half of the sake brewery to be partially destroyed. The brewery was then rented from a sake brewery belonging to a company that had gone out of business, and the brewery was moved to Higashi 12-chome, Hanamaki City, in the neighboring town, where it continues to make sake.

This year, 12 years after the earthquake and 130 years since our founding, we have finally returned to our hometown of Kitakami City and are working hard to rebuild our brewery.
